What is TRXDE????

TRXDE or "trade" is a controversial term in the black community. As much as we think we have grasped the meaning of the word, it continues to evolve and affect us. 

The word "trade" has many origins. Some think the word originated in Polari, an old gay slang in Britain. The term was used to refer to a very masculine sexual partner. However, the term has deeper roots in global black culture; being used in slave trade to refer to black men. Throughout the years, the term has persisted. 

In black gay culture, the term was used to describe black men who were very masculine and was either straight or could pass as straight. But the term was not just used in black gay culture, but was widely used in the southern states to refer to masculine black men in general. 

Nonetheless, the term is complicated. It is difficult to decipher if the term is a compliment or an insult. The concept of "trade" has become a controlling standard in the expectations of black men. And even if people can't directly express what they want in a black man, "trade" is usually the description that they land on. 

"Trade" has become a tool to ensure that black men perform hypermasculinity and hypersexuality. However, we at TRXDE have a different plan. We are shifting the culture. No more making "Trade" a standard for black men, but now supporting black men on their road to master their own masculinity and endeavors. TRXDE is an opportunity to bring all straight and queer black men together in an effort to support achievement and excellence, thus cultivating a healthier and more sustainable masculinity! 

We are leaning in and correcting the narrative.
