TRXDE OF THE MONTH: MUSTANG

TRXDE OF THE MONTH: MUSTANG

July 4th falling on a Friday was one of the best things to happen this month. Not because it was time to relax and celebrate Independence Day, but because it was Black Pride Weekend in Chicago, Southside Pride. This year was quite amazing as Southside Pride pulled no punches! They invited some of the best entertainers and called upon Chicago’s vibrant black community to show up, and show out. Most importantly, they brought back one of Chicago’s most famous dancers, MUSTANG!

This month, we give proper praise to the legendary dancer Mustang, who hasn’t been given the recognition he deserves. Mustang is not only an iconic dancer, appearing in Atlanta's top strip clubs and touring with Joselyn’s Dancing Freakz, making all the women go crazy. But he is also a personal trainer who has trained celebrities, adult film stars, and other dancers. He also landed acting roles in the hit series All the Queen’s Men, Beauty in Black, and Sistas by Tyler Perry. Mustang even has a passion for singing. We highlight him today because Mustang has done something that very few can do: he has made fitness his superpower!

How did you get started in fitness?

Mustang had always been involved in athletics when he was younger, but he started taking his fitness seriously early in high school when he was recruited into the ROTC. After leaving the ROTC and graduating into the next stage of his life, he had dreams of becoming a personal trainer.

On his journey to be a personal trainer, he was offered the opportunity to dance. After pondering on the topic, he took the opportunity, hoping that it would lead his career in the right direction. Mustang danced for some time until he finally began to land himself in the sphere of acting.

What is your relationship with fitness?

Fitness is Mustang’s passion. It is through fitness that Mustang has been able to advance his career and also maintain his peace. He works out, not only for his job, but also for his own gratification. Throughout his career, fitness was and still is one of his highest priorities.

"Be seen and not heard." - Mustang

Mustang’s career was flourishing in dancing, but he needed a way to standout. Even in the biggest crowd of people, Mustang is a very low-key man. He prides himself on not saying much and letting his talent speak for itself. Thus, Mustang used fitness to separate himself from other dancers and actors. Mustang began to use his knowledge in muscle development and nutrition to completely transform his body into his now iconic physique. As Mustang became stronger and gained more mass, he stood out amongst other dancers in the room. All while maintaining his athleticism and agility. Fitness is an intrinsic tool of his motivation, which has allowed Mustang to accomplish personal goals, but also advance his career. “Fitness has opened every door I’ve had”.

What makes you feel like a man

Mustang’s talent as a dancer and personal trainer is also paired with his unquestionable masculinity. Even before his macho physique, he valued masculinity. Not only did he like it, but he also enjoyed being more masculine. Mustang greatly values his essence as a man and prefers to move in a way that is direct, transparent, and honest.

“To make what I do good, Great!” - Mustang

He is not the cliche. Making his muscles bigger is not what makes Mustang feel more like a man. It is actually his ability to wake up every day and go after what he loves. The secret to his unwavering security in his masculinity is his drive to improve. He is a man of faith who isn’t afraid to work for it.

It was truly an honor to interview Mustang while he was in Chicago. He still has much more of his story to tell! Be on the lookout for his memoir, debuting around August 22nd.

Wishing him even more success in his career!

CONGRATS MUSTANG AS TRXDE OF THE MONTH

Sincerely,

OG TRXDE
